Manchester City are now braced for an increased offer from Tottenham for Savinho after this weekend’s meeting between the two clubs, it is being reported.
The Brazilian forward has emerged as one of the most talked-about names of the 2025 summer transfer window, with his future at the Etihad Stadium the subject of intense speculation.
Tottenham’s aggressive pursuit of the winger comes just days after their failed attempts to secure Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who is set to join Arsenal. That setback has forced Spurs to pivot quickly and place Savinho firmly at the top of their recruitment agenda.
For City, the timing of the pursuit is far from ideal. Savinho has only recently been integrated into Pep Guardiola’s first-team setup after his move from Troyes last summer. Despite being just 21 years old, he impressed across his first season in Manchester and is seen internally as a player with immense long-term potential.
Pep Guardiola is also believed to be personally against sanctioning a sale, closing the door on interest only days ago, while previous reporting has highlighted how Tottenham’s initial approaches were swiftly rejected by City officials – who themselves remain resistant to losing the Brazilian.
However, Spurs are not prepared to give up easily and believe their financial strength and determination could eventually force a breakthrough. The coming weeks are therefore expected to be decisive as both clubs test their respective resolve.
Now, according to the information of Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are now prepared to improve their bid for Savinho to a total package deal worth over €70 million after this weekend’s game involving the two clubs.
While Manchester City’s hierarchy are said to have so far blocked all approaches from the North London club over the course of the last 10 days, Tottenham transfer officials will ‘give it one more try’.
With Pep Guardiola standing firm, speculation will now centre on whether City’s boardroom could be tempted into negotiations should Spurs meet a figure that significantly exceeds expectations.
Manchester City have historically been strong sellers when the price is right, as seen with Riyad Mahrez’s departure to Saudi Arabia last summer and the willingness to consider high offers for Jack Grealish this year, albeit settling on a loan agreement for now and adding in a £50 million option to buy in his Everton deal.
For Tottenham, the pursuit of Savinho is also about statement-making. After near-misses in the transfer market, landing a talent regarded as one of Brazil’s most exciting young wingers would not only strengthen their squad but also signal intent in their bid to challenge the Premier League’s elite under Thomas Frank.
With the player’s representatives in the UK at present, further discussions are anticipated in the days to come, and Manchester City fans may have to endure yet more speculation before the window closes.
