Nick was born in Bremen, Germany on 14 February, 2002 and joined Werder Bremen's youth set-up in 2010 following a short stint at TS Woltmershausen.
The German striker impressed for his hometown club's academy sides, notably recording 18 goals and six assists in 24 league matches for Bremen's Under-17s in the Under-17 Bundesliga as well as netting seven times in eight matches for the club's Under-19 side.
Woltemade made his professional debut for Die Grün-Weißen before his 18th birthday in February 2020, becoming the club's youngest ever played to play in the Bundesliga.
Despite Werder Bremen's relegation from the German top-flight during the 2020/21 campaign after a 17th place finish, the promising teenager made a handful of appearances the following season as they returned to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking.
Woltemade enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at senior level the following season after joining German third tier side SV Elversberg on a one-year loan in the summer of 2022.
After scoring 17 times across all competitions, including ten league goals to help the club win the 3. Liga title as well as achieve back-to-back promotions, Woltemade received the division's Player of the Season award following 19 goal contributions in 31 matches.
Woltemade returned to Bremen ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, scoring his first Bundesliga goals in a 2-2 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach, starting 12 league matches that term.
After a 14-year spell with the club, the 6'6" striker moved to VfB Stuttgart, signing a four-year contract with the club and enjoyed a successful season both individually and collectively.
Mitigating Serhou Guirassy's departure to Borussia Dortmund, the German forward scored 17 goals in 2024/25, including 12 times in the Bundesliga, and won the division's Newcomer of the Season award as well as featuring in the Team of the Season.
He also found the net in each of Stuttgart's five DFB-Pokal matches as the club won the German Cup for the first time since 1997.
Nick has gained 18 caps for Germany at under-21 level since making his debut in September 2023, scoring 13 goals in total.
Woltemade was in terrific goalscoring form during his country's run to last summer's European Under-21 Championship final, scoring six goals in five matches before losing out to England via extra-time in Slovakia, but did receive the tournament's top goalscorer award as well as featuring in the Team of the Tournament.
A senior international call-up arrived for Woltemade in May 2025 before, the following month, debuting for the four-time World champions in the Nations League semi-finals against eventual winners Portugal.
The highly-rated forward, who becomes Newcastle United's club-record signing, is set for his first move away from his native homeland and is relishing the opportunity of leading the line for Eddie Howe's side.
The 23-year-old said: "I'm really happy to be at this amazing club. From the first contact, I felt like the club really wanted me and had big plans for me.
"It's a big step in my life to leave Germany but everybody has welcomed me so well and it already feels like family. I have a really good feeling from speaking to the head coach that this is the right place for me to find my best level.
"I know the stadium from watching games on television - it looks amazing and I know the atmosphere is crazy. I'm really excited to play and start scoring goals here."
