Leeds United and Newcastle United played out an uneventful goalless draw at Elland Road.

Both teams went into this game knowing that they needed to improve in the attacking third, something that was evident on the field.

New Newcastle signing Nick Woltemade was watching on from the stands and the former Stuttgart man will be hoping he can make an instant impression as Alexander Isak remains frozen out.

Meanwhile, Dominic Calvert-Lewin came on late for the Whites after a misfiring debut in the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to Sheffield Wednesday midweek.

The 28-year-old looked sharper in his brief cameo this time though, something Daniel Farke will be hoping he can build on.

In the end, there were just three shots on target all game – one from the aforementioned Calvert-Lewin and two from Jacob Murphy in a game that had the lowest xG of any so far this season.

To look on the bright side, Farke will be happy with how his newly-promoted team kept out a Champions League side.

The result sees Newcastle 15th in the league with two points so far this season while Leeds are 10th, behind Manchester United on goal difference.
