Inter Women began their 2025/26 season with a win in their first official match of the season. The Nerazzurre played with great personality and quality away to Genoa, earning three fundamental points in the newly born Serie A Women's Cup. At "La Sciorba", Piovani's side won 1-2: goals from Bartoli and Bugeja in the first half allowed Inter to get the best of the Rossoblù, who pulled one back late on through Mele. The first half began with Inter playing in an aggressive and determined fashion, forcing Genoa into their own half without allowing the Rossoblù any space. The first chance fell to Massa in the eleventh minute, with a shot from the edge of the area following a counter attack. Bugeja went close on two occasions but her efforts from the centre of the area were denied. Inter broke through in the 25th minute: Magull Bartoli's header from a perfect corner beat Forcinella, making it 1-0. Inter controlled the game: in the 38th minute, the side scored a second through Bugeja. Csiszar's effort was denied by Forcinella but the Genoa keeper couldn't deny the Maltese forward from just metres out. In the latter stages of the half, Piovani's side went close to making it three through Glionna, whose effort was denied by Forcinella. The second half began with two changes for the Nerazzurre: Tomaselli replaced Magull while Bowen replaced Andrés. Inter immediately tried to take control of the match, creating dangerous chances through Glionna and Detruyer. The Rossoblù responded through Giacobbo, but the forward's chance was shut down by Runarsdottir. Piovani's side continued to push but without any luck. The home side tried to find a way back in with chances from Cinotti and Hilaj, but the Inter defence managed to deal with the danger. Runarsdottir came close in the 73rd minute, and Inter soon responded with chances from Tomaselli and Bartoli, who both went close to sealing the win completely. The latter stages of the game were decisive. Mele's introduction for Genoa gave new life to the side and she managed to pull one back in the 88th minute to open the match up. Stoppage time saw Inter control the match and result in an orderly fashion. After five minute of stoppage time, the referee signalled for full time. A precious win for the Nerazzurre who began their Serie A Women's Cup campaign in the best possible fashion.
