In what’s been an overwhelmingly quiet transfer window on both the incoming and outgoing fronts for Manchester United, fans will take any positives they can get day-to-day.

As such, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this morning that young starlet Jayden Ngwashi has decided to stay in the Red Devils’ academy despite receiving proposals from ‘English and European clubs’.

Ngwashi, a 6’1” centre-half, has been lauded by supporters for his calmness and composure on the ball, with his stature also setting him apart from his agemates at club and international level, where he’s eligible to play for both England and Italy.

He has already represented the Three Lions at U17s level and even been fast-tracked to ply his trade for United’s U21s, making it clear just how highly he’s rated by the academy coaches.

Given just how crucial a role United’s youngsters have played in the team’s illustrious history, it’s essential that the board can continue keeping hold of the most prodigious talents coming through the ranks.

INEOS have work to do on the market before 2025/2026 kicks off

Elsewhere in M16, Ruben Amorim welcomed Matheus Cunha to his squad at the very beginning of the window but has yet to see his options bolstered since.

INEOS chiefs remain locked in negotiations to prise Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, who again reiterated to his suitors last week that he will only be leaving the Bees for United this summer.

An improved bid of £62.5 million was rebuffed by the West London outfit over the weekend, although there is still confidence from United’s side that a deal can be agreed — especially given how transparent Mbeumo has been with his wishes.
