As anticipated in the closing stages of his final season at the club, Jonny Evans has been kept on at Old Trafford in a new role.
The decorated centre-half pulled the curtains on his playing career upon the culmination of 2024/2025, having come to the end of his contract with Manchester United.
He oversaw an injury-ridden final term in M16 but managed to return in time to make a 24-minute cameo off the bench against Aston Villa on the last day of the Premier League campaign, after which he enjoyed a heartfelt farewell with the United faithful.

Now, he is embarking on an entirely new venture.
United have today confirmed that Evans, who is close to completing his UEFA A Licence, has been appointed Head of Loans and Pathways. The experienced defender reaped the benefits of loans first-hand in the early stages of his Red Devils career, initially with Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp in 2006 and then twice with Sunderland the subsequent two seasons.
He will work alongside Director of Football Jason Wilcox and senior academy figures to aid young players’ routes to the first team and their development, whether that be at Carrington or through temporary spells at other clubs.
In turn, the 37-year-old pulls the curtains on his career with a total of 536 senior appearances to his name, 241 of which came via two stints with the Reds. He also won three Premier League titles in Manchester, as well as a Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.
“Having just finished his exceptional playing career, Jonny is the perfect role model for our young players,” said Wilcox to club media on Monday.
“Jonny’s knowledge of what it takes to succeed at Manchester United will be of great benefit to each of them as we continue to develop world-class talent capable of performing in our first team.”
