Chelsea are unlikely to follow up initial interest in Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi this summer according to reports.

The Blues are once again set for a busy summer and have already signed Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30m, with more new faces set to follow the striker.

Chelsea face a critical window and are in the market for a left winger, versatile forward and centre back to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of next season.

Chelsea unlikely to follow up interest in Marc Guehi

A striker was always the main priority, but Chelsea are also looking to bring in a centre back and it appears there could be a reshuffle at the back.

The Blues had wanted Dean Huijsen, but the 20-year-old opted to join Real Madrid, whilst there have been links with Jarrad Branthwaite and Guehi.

Mamadou Sarr has arrived from Strasbourg, with it believed the 19-year-old will go straight into the first team squad

It had been reported Chelsea were aiming to sign Guehi after the Club World Cup, and the England international is thought to be on their shortlist of options.

However, The Guardian have reported there seems little chance of Chelsea following up their interest in Guehi, and he’s in no rush to make a decision on his future.

Guehi came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and was sold to Crystal Palace in 2021 in a deal worth £18m, and captained the Eagles to FA Cup glory last season.

Jorrel Hato a target

With a move for Guehi looking unlikely, one area Chelsea need to address is the left side of defence and the lack of back-up for Marc Cucurella.

Cucurella is currently the only left back in the squad, and the Blues would have a major issue if he picked up an injury.

Ajax teenager Hato, who can play both left back and centre back has been identified as a target, and it’s thought he could be available for around €55m.

Chelsea have reportedly held initial conversations over a move for Hato, although rivals Arsenal are also said be interested.
