Ben Jacobs believes there could be a lot of noise from the camp of Andrey Santos if he continues to not get minutes at Chelsea.

Santos joined Chelsea back in January 2023 from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama for around £13m, but he’s yet to make his competitive debut.

The 21-year-old excelled on loan at Strasbourg and scored ten goals as Chelsea’s sister club qualified for the Conference League.

Ben Jacobs on Andrey Santos lack of minutes

It had been reported Santos would have a key role in the squad for the upcoming season, and Todd Boehly had spoken of his excitement of seeing the midfielder in action.

Santos is part of the Chelsea squad currently out at the Club World Cup, but a few concerns have started to emerge amongst supporters over his lack of minutes.

The Brazilian has been an unused substitute in both of Chelsea’s games so far, whilst new signing Dario Essugo made his debut as a late substitute against LAFC.

Santos has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs including Bayern Munich, and potential suitors will be looking at the situation closely.

Enzo Maresca has said Santos will get chances and Jacobs has now shared his thoughts on what he thinks could happen.

“We’re going to start hearing a lot of noise, I think, from the Andrey Santos camp if he’s not getting the minutes,” he said on The London Is Blue Podcast.

“I think Santos is not seeing himself as the number two in his head to anyone.”

Chelsea stacked in midfield

Whilst Santos clearly has plenty of talent Chelsea are stacked in midfield and it’s arguably the strongest area of the squad.

Santos is currently behind Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in the pecking order, but it’s up to him to make the most of the opportunities given to him and work his way up.

Whilst all reports indicate the Brazilian isn’t for sale, it’s certainly a situation to keep an eye on, and a continued lack of minutes could see him look at his options.
