Rodrygo entered the FIFA Club World Cup as a starter for Xabi Alonso and played from the first minute against Al-Hilal in the team’s first group-stage encounter. Thereafter, however, his prominence has steeply fallen.

He played no role in the team’s win over Pachuca, came off the bench for 20-odd minutes against RB Salzburg, and once again witnessed the entire game against Juventus from the sidelines.

His lack of minutes under Alonso so far has raised speculation on his future and even linked him with a move away from the club, possibly to the Premier League where clubs are said to be interested.

No offers yet

As relayed in a recent report by MARCA, Real Madrid have received no offers yet for the Brazilian winger despite all the talk of English clubs being interested.

No party has approached Real Madrid even enquiring about his availability as of today.

Los Blancos, for their part, are open to listening to offers for the youngster especially given that they do not see a clear role for him under the new manager’s orders.

Furthermore, a big sale will help settle the account books after the cash they have splashed in recent times.

Rodrygo’s current market value stands at around €90 million and Arsenal are the club who have been most closely linked to his signing. His deal at Real Madrid currently runs until June 2028 and the Merengues thus hope to make a sizeable fee.

As it stands, the player’s future is uncertain with both continuity and a departure as possible options. Conversations will be held with Alonso after the Club World Cup, following which a decision on his next move will be made.

Last season, the 24-year-old made 30 league appearances for Real Madrid and had just 11 goal contributions to his name. Needless to say, his attacking output was underwhelming.
