Official: Atlético Madrid star joins Real Betis | OneFootball

A member of the attacking ranks at Atlético Madrid has late this week put pen to paper on terms with La Liga rivals Real Betis.

The player in question? Rodrigo Riquelme.

The name of attacker Riquelme had emerged as an altogether prominent one in the media headlines across Spain over recent days.

This came after word was forthcoming that the aforementioned Real Betis had kicked into gear talks over the 25-year-old’s signing with Atlético Madrid.

The Verdiblancos are fresh off bidding farewell to new Como signing Jesús Rodríguez, with Riquelme having been identified as the ideal replacement.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, Manuel Pellegrini and co. have officially landed their man.

As per a statement across Real Betis’ website and social media platforms:

‘Real Betis Balompié and Atlético de Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Madrid-born player Rodrigo Riquelme.’

Further details of the operation are expected to surface over the days ahead.
