Rangers make big left back decision over Borna Barisic

If current reports are anything to go by, Rangers have plumped for Borna Barisic as the number one left back target, with further reports, as we said yesterday, that Liverpool’s Owen Beck enquired for again as the deputy.

It has been suggested Rangers are to offer the Croat a contract extension, and that he will be the number one choice going forward – if he accepts the new deal, it’s safe to say Barisic intends to play his career out at Rangers, and maybe that is what he wants, who knows.

Earlier information had suggested he was done, and was quite happy to play the season out and become a free agent this summer, but money talks, and reports this morning allege Rangers will offer him a new deal.

Question is is this Philippe Clement-sanctioned? Does Rangers’ manager actually want Borna as his number one in that position?

Ridvan is now 99% gone leaving just the Croat, and this does suggest that as we said in previous entries, Barisic is as untouchable as Connor Goldson and James Tavernier – that those three are 100% first choice and will always play if fit.

Which means various things we’re not going into right now.

As for Beck… very promising young player, had a shining loan at Dundee and Rangers’ previous approach was rejected by Liverpool amid a recall, but it’s not necessarily being seen that the youngster will be promoted to first team for Klopp

So Rangers are giving that one another shot to see if there’s a change of heart and they would be interested in loaning him out.

Only one issue – no way would Liverpool give us a quality player like Beck to sit on the bench for half a season – that’s not the point of a loan.

So we’ll see what happens at the continuingly-fluctuating LB area…
