PSG Joins Barcelona in Champions League Misfortune After First-Leg Loss to Dortmund | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday night at Signal Iduna Park. The capital club had the opportunity to level the scoring on two occasions, but the woodwork stopped them.

The lone goal in the match came courtesy of Niclas Füllkrug in the 36th minute, as the German side take a slight advantage to the French capital after the first 90 minutes.

Nonetheless, PSG had their chance to get on the score sheet, but when they weren’t capitalizing on their chances, the post denied them. The Parisians’ hitting the woodwork twice in the match against the German side have put them in unfortunate company.

OptaJean highlighted on Twitter that the Ligue 1 team have hit the woodwork 10 times in this Champions League edition, more than any other team.

Furthermore, the stat notes that only Barcelona (11 during the 2011-12 edition) have hit the woodwork more in the same Champions League season over the last 20 years than PSG.

PSG will host the second leg against Dortmund on Tuesday, May 7th, at the Parc des Princes.
