Not every signing that FC Barcelona ends up pursuing comes as a permanent purchase. The cases of Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix are prime examples of this, showcasing the versatility of Barça’s transfer operations. Moreover, with their fragile financial situation, it is also a necessity of sorts for Barcelona.

That is why, come the summer, Barça want to continue that trend and hopefully secure another strong talent on loan. This time around the talent is someone who already knows how Barcelona works both inside and out. Currently playing in the Bundesliga, this player still has a pending score to settle wearing the Barça colors.

Xavi Simons, aged 21, is currently a player on loan at RB Leipzig from French club Paris Saint-Germain. Formerly a talent of La Masia, he has recently been linked with a return to the Catalan club for a season on loan. However, given PSG’s less-than-ideal relations with Barcelona, many suspect the move to be difficult.

Yet, according to Mundo Deportivo, the latest update offers a different outlook on things. PSG will reportedly not be a problem and stand in the way of Xavi Simons if he does intend to return to Barcelona and go away from the Parisian club for another loan spell.

This was already established when they agreed with the player to let him choose his club of choice when deciding his destination for another loan spell. Having already spent a season at PSV Eindhoven and most recently at RB Leipzig, his development and progression have been undeniable.

PSG will look to convince him, especially now in a future where Kylian Mbappe no longer remains. Simons, as a result, could be persuaded to become a part of Luis Enrique’s future concept of PSG. However, despite that, they will reportedly not look to present themselves as a hurdle if he does end up deciding to go over to Barcelona or any other club.

Barça, on the other hand, would be delighted with such a move. Currently in no position to extensively spend and purchase such a player for the price that PSG reportedly want for him, a favorable loan deal like this could be ideal for Barcelona as they look to reinforce their team for next season.
