Manchester City fans may have just been handed a significant boost when it comes to travel plans for this weekend’s Premier League meeting with Wolves.

The meeting between Pep Guardiola and Gary O’Neil’s side was scheduled to be the first to contest with an event at the new 23,500 capacity Co-op Live arena next door to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

With the Premier League contest scheduled to kick-off at 17:30 (UK), globally-acclaimed artist Olivia Rodrigo was due to be headlining at the adjacent arena on the same evening, meaning over 70,000 people could be around the Etihad Campus at similar times.

From the perspective of Manchester City, it was recently reported by MailSport that the Premier League champions were adamant that the campus could navigate increased footfall, with Co-Op Arena fans advised to arrive during the second half of the Premier League fixture.

However, any concern over a clash of spectators during a short timeframe on Saturday evening have now been relieved, with concerns over stadium safety and readiness forcing Olivia Rodrigo’s concert to be postponed.

Confirming the postponement of the highly-anticipated event, The Co-Op Live released a statement on social media, “Due to an on-going venue-related technical issue, the scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour on 3rd and 4th May are being postponed.

“Ticket holders can either hold onto their tickets or obtain a refund at point of purchase. We deeply apologise for the significant inconvenience this will cause for many.”

After facing Wolves at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, Manchester City will have just one remaining contest at home in the Premier League this season, with West Ham the visitors on the final day of the campaign.

Barry Manilow is due to play at the Co-Op Live arena on May 19, which could be the day that Manchester City lift the Premier League title, should they continue their hot run of winning form into their final four matches of the season.

Ongoing simultaneously is also the expansion and redevelopment of the Etihad Stadium, with Manchester City’s stadium undergoing major construction work on the North Stand area of the arena, with minor disruption expected to matchday routine until at least 2026.
