FLW lists three Championship clubs who should move for soon-to-be free agent, Harry Toffolo.

The reopening of the summer transfer window is just around the corner, as clubs across the Championship aim to bolster their squads.

The second tier is set to be another enthralling campaign, with the likes of Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town all vying to make it back to the big time at the first attempt, while Birmingham City, Wrexham and Charlton Athletic enter the fold for 2025-26.

As expected, summer transfer links are rampant, and one player who is expected to generate significant interest is left-back Harry Toffolo.

The former Huddersfield Town defender will leave Nottingham Forest and will be available on a free transfer this summer, with many Championship clubs expected to be interested in landing the 29-year-old.

With this in mind, Football League World has listed three Championship clubs that must pounce on Toffolo’s signature this summer.

Ipswich Town

One area Ipswich Town may need to address is the left-back area, with Leif Davis expected to attract plenty of interest from the Premier League this summer.

According to TWTD, Nottingham Forest are considering an approach for the full-back following the Tractor Boys’ relegation from the Premier League, so Ipswich will need a replacement full-back to compete with Conor Townsend if an exit is sanctioned.

Toffolo knows what it takes to compete for promotion after reaching the play-off final with Huddersfield Town in 2022, and possesses valuable Championship experience which would match a lot of the other senior figures at Portman Road.

With an onus on driving down the left flank and being a creative outlet going forward, Toffolo has similar qualities to Davis, and could be the ideal replacement for a low figure to help contribute to a promotion push.

West Brom

Another team who should be monitoring Harry Toffolo’s situation closely is West Brom, who will have to be shrewd in the summer market as they continue to navigate through challenging financial waters.

The Baggies have already been linked with using the free agent market to recruit former Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, and a left-back is sure to be another area where Ryan Mason looks to strengthen.

Over the course of last season, the Baggies used Torbjørn Heggem in the role before Callum Styles earned a regular starting spot.

Despite impressing, the Hungarian’s natural position is in midfield, while his diminutive side is something opposition teams can target with long balls into the left channel.

Meanwhile, Gianluca Frabotta had a season to forget in his opening term, failing to earn a single league start under any of Carlos Corberan, Chris Brunt, Tony Mowbray or James Morrison.

With his fortunes unlikely to change, Albion are crying out for an added creative spark in the backline, and after registering six goals and seven assists back in the 2021-22 season, Toffolo could be the man to provide, with the likes of Daryl Dike and Josh Maja bound to thrive on some added service.

Norwich City

The final team who should be looking to add Harry Toffolo to their squad is Ipswich's bitter rivals Norwich City, who will be aiming to build a squad that new boss Liam Manning can be successful with.

Toffolo would certainly be an exciting addition for the Norfolk outfit, who didn’t have much depth in the left-back area last season.

Norwich played Callum Doyle in the position for the majority of the season and are in need of a more orthodox left-back.

Keen on getting forward and creating regular chances for his teammates, Toffolo would certainly suit the brand of football Manning would like to adopt at Carrow Road.
