Newcastle United are intensifying their search for a new striker amid uncertainty surrounding Alexander Isak’s future and have turned their attention towards Brazilian forward Rodrigo Muniz, according to the Daily Mail.
Muniz joined Fulham from Flamengo in 2021 for around £7 million and has scored 21 goals in 69 games since returning from a loan spell at Middlesborough.
However, the Brazilian started just eight league matches during the 2024-25 season, playing second fiddle to Raul Jimenez after moving ahead in the pecking order a few months earlier.
With just one year left on his current deal at Craven Cottage, Muniz could be open to a move away, and the allure of playing Champions League football is expected to appeal to him.
Newcastle’s search for a striker this summer has taken several twists and turns, with the likes of Liam Delap and Hugo Ekitike opting to turn down the Magpies in favour of a move elsewhere.
Yoane Wissa is keen on a switch to St James’ Park, although Brentford’s negotiation stance has jeopardised any chances of a move despite the player’s agitation.
Benjamin Sesko has been touted as the leading striker target of late, but with Manchester United now joining the race for the Slovenian, Newcastle could be set for more disappointment on the transfer front.
Eddie Howe’s side are set to complete the loan signing of Aaron Ramsdale as their second summer arrival. However, there is still more work to be done in the market as Newcastle prepare for a return to the Champions League.
