Sala is now pulling out all the stops to try and keep Inter and Milan at the San Siro.

In recent months, it has seemed clear that the two clubs would be leaving the stadium for good in the near future.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have each been working towards plans to build stadiums elsewhere in the Milan metropolitan area.

Inter have been working on plans in the commune of Rozzano.

Meanwhile, in Milan’s case the process is even further along. They have already purchased land in the San Donato area.

These developments follow a years-long saga that saw Inter and Milan attempt to secure approval to demolish the San Siro to build a new stadium in its place, ultimately unsuccessfully.

Sala Could Offer Inter & AC Milan Sale Of Land Surrounding San Siro

Sala’s idea in response to Inter and Milan’s plans to build outside of the city has been to try and keep the clubs at the San Siro.

The Mayor of Milan has been working with architectural design firm WeBuild.

WeBuild have developed a proposal to significantly renovate the San Siro.

This would keep the iconic stadium standing. However, it would also enable Inter and Milan to generate considerably more revenues from the stadium. That has always been their priority.

And according to the Corriere della Sera, Sala is even going a step further.

Firstly, there is the fact that the Mayor is offering to sell the stadium to Inter and Milan outright.

This is certainly important. The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri do not want to only rent the stadium from the city, as this limits their potential to monetize its use.

And according to the Corriere della Sera, Sala is not just offering the sale of the stadium,

The Mayor is also ready to offer the sale of the surrounding land.

That way, Inter and Milan could build an expansive club museum and retail development, enabling them to take in more cash.
