Sport Bild reports that Manchester United have matched Newcastle’s offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenian striker now has an interesting decision to make. In any event, it appears as if a Bundesliga departure will not be long in forthcoming.
In reporting on the two offers, the German tabloid sticks to the €85m figure quoted by some footballing media sources. The Newcastle bid is thought to consist of an €80m base transfer fee with €5m in performance related bonuses.
It should be noted that some sources presently claim that the Magpies are actually offering €10m in bonuses, bringing the total package up to €90m.
Speaking after a Saturday friendly RB sporting director Marcel Schäfer has effectively confirmed that Sesko will be leaving his current German club. The decision where to go rests with the 22-year-old.
Sesko was present at Leipzig training on Tuesday, but trained individually apart from the team.
