Man City target Cherki scores stunning goal on France debut | OneFootball

Manchester City are pushing to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon and it’s clear to see why on the evidence of the winger’s France debut this week.

Cherki came off the bench to mark his first appearance for France with a glorious goal in the nation’s 5-4 Nations League defeat to Spain.

With France trailing 5-1, Cherki gave Les Blues a glimmer of hope with an outstanding touch and volley past Unai Simon. It was an absurd piece of technique from the 21-year-old, and a goal that has certainly increased the excitement levels at the Etihad.

Cherki earned his first call-up to the senior side after a superb season with Lyon. The winger scored 12 times and provided 19 assists in all competitions, ending the campaign as the leading assist provider in both Ligue 1 and the Europa League.

City are in negotiations over a deal to sign Cherki in a transfer worth in excess of €30m. The Citizens want Cherki to link up with their squad at this summer’s Club World Cup.
