Paris Saint-Germain initially loaned Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for another season, taking a short-term approach. However, his future is now more secure, as Leipzig has made his move permanent.
A new report sheds light on Simons’ time at Leipzig, suggesting PSG may have avoided a difficult situation. Still, with the Parisians holding a sell-on clause, any future transfer could have an impact on them.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United could have an edge over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Simons has officially joined Leipzig on a permanent deal from PSG. The transfer is valued at €80 million, including add-ons, with an initial fee of €55 million and a sell-on clause.

According to Fichajes, Slot has identified three key targets for this summer: Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, RB Leipzig’s attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, and Atletico Madrid striker Alvarez.
The report suggests that securing all three players will set Liverpool back €300 million (£252 million), as Slot aims to strengthen the core of his squad and shape the team in his image.
A previous report from Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg revealed that Manchester United is still interested in Simons and has kept a close eye on him. In addition to a striker, the club is also looking for a versatile attacking midfielder.
The main obstacle, however, is the price. RB Leipzig is asking for €80 million for Simons, which could make a deal challenging. Still, a transfer remains a possibility.
