Nicolas Jackson may not be joining Bayern Munich after all, despite already being in Germany. Chelsea has decided to suspend his loan move following Liam Delap's injury on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Stamford Bridge during the 2-0 win over Fulham.

The Senegalese striker was set to sign for Bayern Munich on a paid loan with an option to buy. The German club had agreed to pay £13 million for the season, with a purchase clause set at £56.2 million. In line with this, Nicolas Jackson arrived in Munich early on Saturday to undergo his medical examination.

An injury that changes everything

Against all odds, Chelsea has just decided to halt negotiations and cancel Nicolas Jackson's loan. This comes after a major blow for the Blues. Liam Delap, the squad's only other center forward, left the pitch after just fifteen minutes against Fulham this afternoon at Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old striker suffered a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, according to Enzo Maresca's post-match press conference.

"The injury doesn't look good. He was sprinting at full speed, the hamstring. This will take weeks. With two strikers, it's enough. If one gets injured, it's not anymore," the Italian manager confirmed, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Enzo Maresca and the club’s leadership held an urgent meeting following the match to reassess the situation. The Italian coach admitted that the squad lacks enough attacking options in the event of a prolonged absence. As a result, Chelsea is demanding the immediate return of Nicolas Jackson to London. The technical staff had anticipated such a scenario, keeping the Senegalese striker involved in team training sessions despite advanced talks with Bayern.
