AC Milan are not giving up on their pursuit of Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka according to reports, with the Italian’s keen to agree a deal.

Chukwuemeka joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 in a deal worth £20m but has seen his time at Stamford Bridge plagued by injury.

The 20-year-old impressed in pre-season and started the season well before picking up a knee injury which limited him to just 12 appearances in all competitions last season.

AC Milan not giving up on Chukwuemeka

Italian outlet Di Marzio had reported earlier this week that Milan were trying to agree a loan deal with an option to buy for the midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano has subsequently stated that Chelsea are happy with Chukwuemeka and don’t won’t to loan him out, with the only way he leaves being if they club receive a really good offer.

Chukwuemeka has been linked with a move to AC Milan.

However, in a fresh report from Di Marzio they claim that Milan are trying to add an obligation to buy based on number of appearances.

The Blues and AC Milan have done plenty of business in the past with former Chelsea players Fikayo Tomori, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all now plying their trade at the San Siro.

It would be a real shame if Chukwuemeka were to leave given how talented a player he is, but Chelsea are stacked in midfield, and if Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall arrives from Leicester that’s another player he will be competing for minutes with.

Having made just 27 appearances over two seasons with Chelsea, Chukwuemeka really needs to stay fit next season, because if he remains at the club he will get the opportunity to play given the increased number of games the Blues will have with the Europa Conference League and the newly formatted Club World Cup next summer.

There could be a few midfield departures from Stamford Bridge this summer, with question marks surrounding Conor Gallagher’s future, whilst Cesare Casadei could depart, with Lesley Ugochukwu also likely to leave on loan.
