Cristian Chivu has emerged as the front-runner for the Inter Milan U-23 coaching role as Oaktree’s project begins to take shape.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, developing the youth sector is one of Oaktree’s priorities.
The American owners are seemingly reluctant to allow Inter to be left behind.
Looking at Juventus’ Next Gen and AC Milan’s Primavera, they remain determined to keep pace with their rivals in nurturing young talent.
Despite operating at diminished capacity, Dario Baccin is going to great lengths to provide the infrastructure.
Indeed, the Breda Stadium in Sesto San Giovanni will likely be the Inter U-23’s home ground.
Meanwhile, the U-Power Stadium in Monza remains a viable alternative.
Needless to say, Chivu holds strong ties with Inter.
In addition to being part of the treble-winning squad in 2010, he was a member of the club’s hierarchy from 2018 to 2024.
Indeed, in 2021, he became the Primavera coach before stepping down from his position last year.
However, he could soon return to Meazza in a different capacity.
With Inter eager to launch a sustainable youth project, they need a familiar face to be in charge.
Chivu ticks all the boxes.
