Inter made a couple of signings in defense during the summer transfer window.

However, neither of these were of experienced players to bolster the senior team in the short term.

21-year-old defender Tomas Palacios was brought in from Independiente Rivadivia.

Palacios is part of Inter’s senior squad rather than the youth team setup. However, the Argentine is yet to make a single appearance for the Nerazzurri.

Palacios is also not in Inter’s Champions League squad. That is certainly a signal of the Nerazzurri’s intentions.

Meanwhile, Perez is on loan at Inter from Real Betis. They have a purchase option to sign the teenage defender at the end of the season.

Perez has been part of Inter’s Primavera or Under-19 team, rather than the senior squad.

In Palacios’s case, Inter certainly do not see it as a problem that he has yet to feature.

The Argentine youth team international will almost certainly get his chances over the course of the season.

But there has been no need for Palacios to come straight into the senior team and make an impact.

Inter are satisfied with how Palacios has been progressing in training.

The 21-year-old is a player who the Nerazzurri have marked out as having the physical and technical attributes to become an important part of their squad in years to come.

Then, in the case of Perez, the 18-year-old has struggled with injuries early on in the season.

Inter do not expect Perez back in training until December at the earliest.

Admittedly, that is a worry at this stage. Inter will wait and see how the Spaniard does once he is able to return.

But according to the Gazzetta, Perez’s attitude has impressed Inter.

The teenager’s determination and work ethic in his recovery has reassured the club of what he can do once he is back.
