Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team “should’ve scored more goals” after they beat Udinese 3-2 in a Serie A thriller.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the match. He also praised captain Lautaro Martinez for his performance after a decisive brace.

Inter got back to winning ways at the Bluenergy Arena in Friuli this evening.

It was an up-and-down evening for the Nerazzurri, who needed three goals to ensure three points.

But in the end, Inter got the job done to get the result they needed.

Inter scored very early on in the match through midfielder Davide Frattesi.

However, some sloppy defending allowed former Watford defender Christian Kabasele to equalize for the Friulani.

Then, Inter captain Martinez scored twice either side of halftime to put his team in a commanding position.

A late goal from substitute Lorenzo Lucca made the closing stages very nervy ones for the Nerazzurri. But they held on for the result.

Inter Coach Inzaghi: “We Should’ve Scored More” Vs Udinese

After the match, Inter coach Inzaghi commented that “The guys were fantastic.”

“I congratulated them, because we came to a tough away ground, up against Udinese, who’ve taken ten points and are a good team.”

“We had a great first half,” Inzaghi continued. “The only flaw was that we didn’t score more goals after having had four clear chances.”

“Then we conceded from a goal after we failed to clear our lines to avoid the cross,” the Inter coach said.

“But we didn’t lose focus. And we had a second half that was like the first.”

Inzaghi noted that “We scored three goals, but we should’ve scored a few more.”

“Because on the couple of times that they got into our penalty area, they scored.”

Inzaghi admitted that “We have to score more goals, we can’t be 1-0 up and then allow it to get to 1-1.”

Meanwhile, the Inter coach also addressed the fact that his team have conceded three headed goals already this season.

“That’s certainly an area for growth,” he admitted.

“We’re positioned in a certain way. And we have to clear our lines better, and be better at having a presence in the penalty area.”

And of Inter’s match-winner Martinez, Inzaghi said that “He’s our captain.”

“We know what he represents for us.”

“On Sunday he had a couple opportunities which he would have taken advantage of on other nights,” Inzaghi said of Martinez’s performance against AC Milan in the derby.”

“Today he was very good.”

“The only fault in his performance was the lob when Mkhitaryan was free and would have scored the goal for 4-1.”
