Birmingham and Aston Villa may be rivals on the pitch, but how do their pint prices compare?
It can be argued that the hospitality surrounding a football game can contribute to a fan's enjoyment almost as much as the game itself.
For those who choose to indulge in alcohol, the price of a pint at the game counts for the majority of that hospitality.
Obviously, there's no better feeling than seeing your team win, but sometimes if the result doesn't go your way, the day out can often make up for it.
So, whether it's to celebrate a big win or to perhaps soften the blow a little, having good-quality, affordable alcoholic drink options is key for a supporter's enjoyment during their day out at the football.
Birmingham City and Aston Villa, despite being bitter rivals, will share their hunger for success over the coming season, with the Blues searching for a second successive promotion and Villa hoping to return to the Champions League.
But how do their pint prices compare? Football League World has taken a look to find out.
St Andrews' Stadium has a very spacious and popular fan zone around the ground, and Birmingham clearly wants supporters to arrive early and create a loud atmosphere hours before kickoff.
Their main beer during the 2024/25 season was Cruzcampo, which could be bought for £4.50 between 12pm and 1:30pm, and then an hour after the game. During the game, this popular Spanish-based beer costs £5.50.
The Blues also have Inches Cider, Moretti and Neck Oil on offer, according to the Birmingham City official supporters club, but it is inferred that they won't be cheaper than their main option.
As for Aston Villa's pint prices, they stay the same regardless of when bought, and the price sits in between the two found down the road at St Andrews.
Per a report from Give Me Sport, Aston Villa charge £5.20 for the cheapest pint at Villa Park, which places them joint eighth with Nottingham Forest for the most expensive pint in the Premier League.
As for what is on offer at Villa Park, the Villains confirmed a new partnership with Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company as their new Official Lager and Cider Partner last summer.
This means choices such as Carlsberg, Poretti, Somersby Cider, 1664 and Brooklyn Pilsner are available to purchase on a matchday at Villa Park.
It is often the case at these stadium events that a pint costs slightly more than what you would pay in a local pub, and both of Birmingham's clubs rank just above the average in this case.
The average price of a pint in Birmingham is £5.04, but this will take into account location and the drink itself.
With success being the expectation on the pitch next season for both Aston Villa and Birmingham City, perhaps being charged an extra 50p or so for a pint whilst at the ground isn't going to be something that will ruffle any feathers soon.
