Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno has reportedly agreed to join Napoli this summer, largely thanks to the pitch by new Partenopei coach Antonio Conte, outlets in Italy suggest.

Napoli and Torino agreement for Buongiorno

Napoli and Torino agreed a deal worth €35m up front plus an additional €5m in bonuses earlier this week, although it had been suggested that Scudetto-winning Inter were also monitoring the situation.

Napoli and Buongiorno have reportedly also agreed to the inclusion of a €70m release clause in the contract, which is set to become valid after three years in Campania.

Corriere dello Sport report that Buongiorno has now given his word to Napoli over a transfer this summer, and the Italian outlet also report that Conte’s involvement has been crucial in getting a deal over the line.

Buongiorno and Conte have spoken directly, and the former Juventus, Inter and Italy coach is ready to start the Azzurri international as one of his key players in Naples.

The player has been in Milan to personally keep tabs on the situation following Italy’s exit from EURO 2024 at the round of 16 stage. He has not yet taken a personal holiday, but is expected to take a few days for a break once the transfer is officially completed.
