Gasperini opens to Atalanta exit: “For the first time I would have to lower the bar.”

Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini has hinted at the possible of a departure from Bergamo.

Following the last matchday of the season, Gasperini assessed the situation he finds himself in, including his motivations after nine years with Atalanta.

“It will be difficult to repeat what we did this season,” Gasperini told reporters on Sunday evening. “It’s difficult to repeat a result like qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in 9 years.”

“We have to discuss matters with the club because I have the feeling that many players could leave and we would therefore not be able to guarantee the same results.”

“I’m sorry to have to lower the bar for the first time but a face-to-face with the club will be needed.”
