It’s the 29th day in June – time to check out how our number 29 is getting on this month.
Poor old Wesley Fofana has been doing the same thing this month that he was last month, and the month before, and in fact for most months of the last 4 years – rehab.

The French defender suffered yet another injury wrecked season, finally coming to an end in April when he was ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
There was some hope that he would be fit for this Club World Cup, but it was made very clear a while ago that he would be left out of the travelling party as the club maximise their caution over the defender, who has played just a handful of games in his 3 seasons at Chelsea.
We hope that he’s ready to go by the time we play our two friendlies in August on the eve of the new season – those will be his only chances to get into gear before next season gets underway. Having misses another huge chunk of games, he will need a while to get back up to speed.
Perhaps more importantly for Fofana, nobody has yet really managed to take his place as a central defender alongside Levi Colwill. Benoit Badiashile was given a chance last night, with Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo alternating starts for the second half of the season.
If and when Fofana is fit again, that place in the team is there for the taking for him. There are still plenty of rumours linking us to other elite defenders we may sign – but until that happens, his route remains clear.
