Andy Robertson future in doubt

But Alexander-Arnold might not be the only Liverpool star swapping Merseyside for Madrid this summer. It’s been revealed by Fabrizio Romano that Atletico Madrid see Andy Robertson as a “priority” target in this window.

With Reinildo Mandava and Cesar Azpiliceuta out of contract following the FIFA Club World Cup, Diego Simeone will require a new left-back.

Robertson has already plunged his Liverpool career into doubt - admitting after the final match of the season that he didn’t know what the future held.

Robertson 'keen' on Atletico move

Arne Slot and Richard Hughes are set to move on from the 31-year-old with the signing of Milos Kerez from Bournemouth. Given the long-serving Robertson has only one year left on a deal worth a reported £160k per week - he could well be sacrificed in the next few weeks.

And, according to Romano, the Scotland international is enthusiastic about following Trent to the Spanish capital.

“Understand Robertson’s keen on joining Atléti and initial talks have already started,” the Italian transfer supremo wrote on X. “Atlético consider Robertson as their priority, as revealed.”
