Fabio Capello feels Inter Milan “don’t look as ruthless as last season” after yesterday’s Serie A loss to Juventus.
The former AC Milan and Real Madrid coach argued in an interview in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, that Inter must “do a mea culpa.”
For the third time this season, Inter Milan have slumped to defeat in Serie A.
And unlike in losses against AC Milan and Fiorentina, this wasn’t necessarily the result of the Nerazzurri being second best for ninety minutes.
In the first half in particular, Inter showed their strength. They outclassed Juventus, and created more and better chances.
But that counted for nothing, as the Nerazzurri were unable to find the back of the net with any of the opportunities that they had.
The Bianconeri, on the other hand, were clinical under the spotlight. Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao combined to sink Inter’s ship.
Of yesterday’s match, Fabio Capello said that “first of all, it gives Napoli some momentum back after they’ve struggled recently.”
“Conte now has a two-point advantage. And rest assured, sooner or later he’ll get back to grinding out wins.”

“Because Napoli are a compact team,” said Capello. “They know how to defend.”
“And in Italy, that’s the basis for taking points.”
“Furthermore, a second loss in three matches takes away some of Inter’s sense of certainty,” Capello argued.
“I will say one thing strongly: I see the spirit of the 2023-24 Scudetto in Barella.”
“I don’t see that same spirit in the other players,” Capello argued. “It seems to be that they’re not as ruthless.”
“That’s something that often happens the season after a big title win.”
And then Capello also criticized Inter captain Lautaro Martinez. “In such high-level matches, you can’t afford certain errors in front of goal,” he argued.
“Lautaro didn’t have a bad match outside the penalty area. But he was completely lacking in front of goal.”
