Everton waiting on Malick Fofana response | OneFootball

Everton are still waiting on a response from Olympique Lyonnais forward Malick Fofana (20), according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.

As reported by the Italian journalist, Everton are in advanced talks to sign the Belgium international. However, L’Équipe understands that the Premier League side’s first bid was rejected. They aren’t the only ones in the race to sign the forward. Liverpool also hold an interest and that could become more concrete, following Luis Diaz’s departure.

In any case, Fofana’s priority is to play UEFA Champions League football next season. That is what he may be holding out for and may explain his lack of response to Everton’s interest. Romano understands that the Toffees are still waiting for the Belgian’s final decision. Alternatives for Everton include Assane Diao and Takefusa Kubo.

Fofana is currently sidelined. The Belgian suffered a concussion in training on Monday and, as per guidelines, will not be able to compete for the next 10 days.
