Denmark managed to progress from the dour Group C at Euro 2024 despite drawing all three of their matches against England, Serbia and Slovenia. Who will they play in the Round of 16 and what is their potential route to the final?

Group C consisted of four teams who all believed they have a realistic chance of making it to the knockout stages. In the end, Denmark were able to secure second spot after drawing all three games by virtue of the fact that they had a better disciplinary record than Slovenia, who they ended the group level with on points. Rode-Hvide drew 1-1 with both Slovenia and England before playing out a goalless stalemate with Serbia on Matchday Three.

Group C – Matchweek One

Slovenia were first up for Denmark in Group C and Rode-Hvide looked good for a win when they went 1-0 up in the first half through Christian Eriksen, only for Erik Janza to equalise for the Dragons in the latter stages.

Group C – Matchweek Two

Denmark will have been happier with the 1-1 draw in their second game than the one they earned in their first match. Harry Kane had given the tournament favourites England the lead in Frankfurt but Morten Hjulmand’s long-range strike secured a point for the Scandinavian side.

Group C – Matchweek Three

There have been just three meetings between Denmark and Serbia, with the Danes winning all three. Two came in qualifying for Euro 2016, with the most recent a 3-0 friendly win for Denmark two years ago.

Round of 16

Denmark have given themselves a tough task in the Round of 16 as they now face the hosts Germany at Borussia Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion. Die Mannschaft were in fine form in their first two games, beating Scotland 5-1 and Hungary 2-0, but there were signs of weakness on display in the 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Matchday Three.
