The Los Angeles Galaxy won their record 6th MLS Cup back earlier this month at Dignity Health Sports Park. The MLS giants were able to overcome the injury to star midfielder Riqui Puig and conquer another OG club in the New York Red Bulls to win the league title.

The Galaxy started hot as Joseph Paintsil scored the opener in just 9 minutes after being slipped through by Gaston Brugman. Only 4 minutes later, star striker Dejan Joveljic would slot home an easy finish to double the lead for the Galaxy. Only 15 minutes later the Red Bulls would cut the lead off of a corner kick. Captain Sean Nealis hit home a header to get one goal back, unfortunately that would be the last goal of the match. The Galaxy took home a 2-1 win, Gaston Brugman won MLS Cup MVP, and the Galaxy got to celebrate at home.

The place of Major League Soccer on the global arena is growing. It’s growing within the transfer market, player development, eyes on the product, and more. With that, clubs are also cementing themselves within this growing place. Clubs like the New York Red Bulls, Philadelphia Union, Atlanta United and more are making a name for themselves in sales to Europe. But then we have clubs like Inter Miami, LAFC, Columbus Crew, and now I think we can add the LA Galaxy to the bucket of being a talented global on field product. The Galaxy have top level products like Joseph Paintsil, Riqui Puig, Gabriel Pec, and Dejan Joveljic. They also continue to bring in globally known names like Marco Reus and Maya Yoshida. Kudos to the Galaxy front office, coaching staff, and these players on overcoming the last decade of struggles to right the ship and get back on track in a modern day MLS.
