On Thursday, Major League Soccer released schedules for all teams for the 2025 season. This includes the newest edition to league, San Diego FC.

The Los Angeles Galaxy have the honor of welcoming them in Carson, California on February 23rd. The home-opener will serve as the launching pad for the team's title defense. No team in MLS has won the Finals in back-to-back seasons since the Galaxy last did it in 2011 and 2012.

The 30th season in league season will present a number of high profile match ups for Head Coach Greg Vanney's squad. Many key matches are built into the Galaxy's schedule for the upcoming 2025 MLS Regular Season.

Here is a look at some of those key match ups.

1. San Diego FC

Not only do the LA Galaxy host the newest team entry of the league to open the season, they travel to San Diego in a rematch on May 24th. This will mark the fourth current MLS team in the state of California.

While no members of the LA Galaxy were selected in the Expansion Draft by San Diego, the six-time champions open up their title defense against the 30th current team in the league.

2. Los Angeles FC

In 2024, the two cross-town rivals played against each other three times during the regular season. The LA Galaxy lost two of those games.

Their only win came in mid-September after trailing 2-0 entering the half. The Western Conference Finalists scored four times in the second half to defeat their foe.

In 2025, the top two seeds from the West last season will do battle twice more during the regular season, The Galaxy will first host LAFC on May 18 and then rematch on the road (so-to-speak) on July 19.

3. Vancouver Whitecaps

While these two teams may not normally be a huge draw, when they are playing is. This particular game will mark the 29th time the Los Angeles Galaxy will play on Independence Day.

The Galaxy are an astounding 16-8-4 on games played on July 4 since the league began. They lost to their rival LAFC in Pasadena on this day last season, 2-1.

Both teams made the Western Conference Playoffs last season. Vancouver upset the Portland Timbers in the Wild Card round. Then, they lost in the best-of-three opening round against LAFC.

Prior to the July 4th game, the Los Angeles Galaxy will travel to Canada to play the Whitecaps on March 2nd for their first contest on the road for the new season.

4. Seattle Sounders

This draw has more notoriety than others. The Seattle Sounders are no stranger to the 2024 MLS Cup Champions.

The Los Angeles Galaxy bested the Sounders, 2-1, in the Western Conference Finals on the heals of Dejan Joveljic's score. The assist came from Riqui Puig prior to his torn ACL in the game.

The first of two matches between these squads take place at Dignity Health Sports Park on August 10 when the Galaxy host the Sounders. The second contest in the regular season will be at Lumen Field on September 13 in Seattle.

5. New York Red Bulls

While the LA Galaxy don't get too many opportunities to play in the Big Apple, they do in 2025. The defending champions come to New York to face off against the Red Bulls, again.

This is a rematch of the 2024 MLS Cup Finals. As we know, the Galaxy won 2-1 against the Red Bulls. Finals MVP Gaston Brugman is no longer with the team. His replacement, Sean Davis, was acquired from Nashville SC on Thursday.

Davis was a part of the Red Bulls' seasons in 2015 & 2018 when New York won the Supporters' Shield. He brings leadership and playoff experience to a prestigious franchise like the Los Angeles Galaxy.

These two teams will do battle on May 10 at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey.

6. DC United

The first ever MLS Cup winners come to Carson, California on July 12 to play the LA Galaxy. While the Galaxy have won six titles now, DC United have won four titles.

The first three game in the league's first four seasons. Their 1996 and 1999 titles were against none other than the Los Angeles Galaxy.

DC United is currently on a 20-year title drought. The Galaxy ended their 10-year long streak without an MLS Cup. Combined, these two teams have won ten titles, which is a third of all of the league's titles.
