The Curva Sud have published an official press release detailing their version of events after what happened following the full-time whistle on Saturday.

Milan’s 2023 has shifted from concern to disaster, and Saturday night’s defeat against Spezia might just be the lowest point yet for the team. At the end of the game the team went over to the fans, with leaders of the Ultras group having an animate conversation with them.

This was quickly misconstrued as being a verbal dressing down from the Curva when in actual fact it was more of a constructive and encouraging discussion that took place, aimed at firing the team up rather than adding to their woes.

Below is the press release from the Curva Sud Milano after the media campaign unleashed following the discussions held between the fans and the players, relayed by MilanNews.

“Some deliberately misunderstood (and it’s a pity) the images of the Spezia-Milan after-game, thus missing out on an exceptional opportunity.

“Many journalists and not only (in blatant bad faith), have attacked the club for having allowed the team and fans to meet, for the sole purpose of discrediting the goodness of what happened to create further tension in view of the second leg derby.

“That it was a situation of peaceful confrontation, characterised by the incredible relationship that has been created between this team and the San Siro crowd, never as one with the Curva as today, was clearly under the eyes of the whole stadium. And the people who yesterday spent their Sunday supporting the boys at Milanello are further proof of this.

“The fans showed their support for the team even after the 4-0 loss against Lazio, muting the Olimpico, down by 5 goals at home to Sassuolo and after a badly lost Supercoppa derby, always all united in cheering on the shirt, and sorry if it’s not much, while the same phenomena that attack the Curva today were intent on bombarding the Rossoneri on social media, TV and newspapers.

“On Saturday there was a clear demonstration of affection, no one ‘scolded’ anyone. There was mutual applause, accompanied by the throwing of shirts and cheers for the boys.

“There was a press release from AC Milan which proudly reported the episode, because it’s the substance of things that makes the difference, it’s too easy to stop at appearances. There was then a follow-up on Sunday with thousands of fans once again throwing their love at a difficult time.

“Certain press now borders on the ridiculous, puppets who deliberately misrepresent the reality of the facts, clowns who claim the right to say anything without a contradiction, shooting crap about those who spend the whole year spending money and dedicating time to a passion, and who in a normal world he would have every right to confront and support his team (but we are in Italy, the country of indifference).

“That’s right, on the basis of what criterion does a privately paid journalist have more right than any fan to ask questions, have meetings with the players, writing what is more convenient for him? Be less presumptuous, the fact of writing for a newspaper or working for a television does not in any way certify the truth of what you say and write, quite the contrary.

“The FIGC itself, before threatening to open investigations, unleashing media chaos, should ask its emissaries who it sends around the various stadiums how things really went (they know it very well).

“Stronger than lies, come on united for the good of this shirt.

“AVANTI MILAN, AVANTI SOUTH CURVE, AVANTI TOGETHER!”
