The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed it will hear Crystal Palace’s appeal against their demotion from the UEFA Europa League on August 8.

Crystal Palace had originally secured qualification for the 2025–26 UEFA Europa League after winning the 2025 FA Cup.

However, UEFA announced earlier this month that the club would not be allowed to participate due to multi-club ownership rules surrounding former investor John Textor, who also owns Ligue 1 club and fellow Europa League participant Lyon.

As a result, Palace were relegated to the Conference League and Premier League side Nottingham Forest took the Eagles' spot in the Europa League.

Palace promptly filed an appeal with CAS, which now sets the stage for a crucial in-person arbitration session in Lausanne on August 8. In-person hearings are typically reserved for complex cases or those with significant consequences, underscoring the magnitude of the appeal.

Should Palace win the appeal, UEFA may be compelled to reinstate them into the Europa League, potentially forcing a reshuffling of the tournament’s group stage participants. If the appeal fails, Palace will compete in the Conference League, with play-off games for the competition set to take place on August 21 and 28.
