After Cibao took a shock 1-1 aggregate scoreline to Guadalajara, Chivas comfortably booked their spot in the next round of the Concacaf Champions Cup with a 3-0 home win over the Dominican side Wednesday evening.
Scorers: Beltrán 22', Hernández 55',
It was one-way traffic from the opening whistle as Chivas looked to flex their superior muscles in front of the home crowd.
It did not take the hosts long to find the goal that broke the deadlock on the night, and aggregate, as Fernando Beltrán fired home inside 25 minutes.
While Cibao did little to threaten an equalizer in the second-half, their chances of pulling off the upset were quashed when Chicharito capped off a slick counter-attack for Chivas' second of the night, killing off the tie.
After a Cibao player was sent off for handling the ball, Armando González Alba fired home Chivas' third of the night from a corner, hammering the gulf in quality between the two sides.
The second-leg victory sets up a showdown between Liga MX giants in the next round, as Chivas will take on América.
