The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
The 29-year-old Warrington-born defender joins Brighton & Hove Albion after spending the last four-and-a-half years north of the border with Glasgow giants Celtic. Hayes has won the Scottish Women’s Premier League title, the Sky Sports Cup and two Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cups in her time as a Celtic player. This season has seen the defender play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time, coming up against Chelsea, Real Madrid and FC Twente.
On the international stage, Hayes is a member of the Republic of Ireland national team. She has collected 18 caps for The Girls In Green and has scored two goals.
After adding Hayes to his squad, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach, Dario Vidošić said “We’re delighted to welcome Caitlin to the club. She’s an experienced player who has competed at many levels of the game, including cup finals and the Champions League.
“She’s progressed well in her time in Scotland and we are looking forward to seeing her compete in the WSL with Brighton.”
Hayes is Brighton & Hove Albion’s first signing of the January transfer window.
