Multiple La Liga clubs are reportedly interested in Borja Sainz

Norwich City’s Borja Sainz is reportedly of interest to clubs in La Liga, according to reports in Spain.

The 24 year old forward spent much of his career in the Spanish leagues before a year in Turkey preceded his move to Carrow Road.

Sainz finished the 24/25 season with 24 goal contributions, earning a place in the EFL’s Championship Team of the Season. His immaculate form for the Canaries has cast doubt over his future in East Anglia.

The news comes as a summer of turnover on both sides of the touchline at Norwich City, with the team currently managerless following the sacking of Johannes Hoff Thorup, and confirmation that Jack Wilshere will not continue following his caretaker spell.

Athletic Club Bilbao - where the winger spent five years of his youth career - have reportedly been in touch with Sainz following the close of the Championship season.

The club’s sporting director, Mikel Gonzalez, had been seen speaking with the Canary whilst in Bilbao, according to local reports, and Sainz’s representatives were in talks with the club in the final weeks of the season..

The news follows confirmation in an interview with Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper which confirmed Villareal had been interested in Sainz, acknowledging that top-level offers could prompt exits:

“If a player gets a fantastic opportunity... then you have to be reasonable.” he told The Pink ‘Un.

The east Spain team can now offer Champions League football to Sainz following the conclusion of the 24/25 season, which confirmed their place in the top European competition.

The Spanish transfer window will open on 1st July 2025.
