Sacha Tavolieri is currently reporting that Bayern Munich are considering a late swoop for RB Leipzig striker Loïs Openda. Following the sensational collapse of the loan deal that would have brought Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson to the Bundesliga, the German record champions may try to acquire the Belgian forward on loan.

It would initially appear as if Bayern have little to no chance in the Openda race. Aston Villa, Sunderland, and Juventus are also vying for the 25-year-old’s services. Openda himself may not be keen on the prospect of serving as Harry Kane’s back-up. There are nevertheless some factors that speak for the deal.

Bayern chief personnel executive Max Eberl was actually the one who brought Openda to the Bundesliga whilst helming the RB front office in the summer of 2023. Additionally, Bayern’s small squad size could lead to Openda receiving some guaranteed minutes.

Bayern prepare to contest three competitions this year with a squad comprised of just 25 professionals. Eberl presently finds himself reportedly taking heat from the FCB board due to the manner in which he’s managed certain transfers this summer.
