The winter transfer window has officially closed, so Alexander Isak will remain at Newcastle United for now. Although there wasn’t much talk about a move this winter, it’s likely that several clubs will be watching him closely come summer.

Recently, RMC Sport’s Daniel Riolo recommended that PSG should seriously consider Isak to bolster their attack under manager Luis Enrique.

“Wouldn’t you go all-in on Alexander Isak if you were PSG?” Riolo said. “PSG could very well go all-in. Can we swap Ramos and Kolo Muani for Isak? Can we make a package like that? You also add Asensio to the package. And come on, I’ll throw in Kang-In Lee too.”

Other clubs, like Arsenal, have shown some interest, but according to FootballTransfers, Liverpool are currently the most eager suitor and lead the race for his signature.

Are Barcelona a serious threat for Alexander Isak?

With the rumors surrounding Isak not going away, there’s now another club that will try their look to lure the striker away from Newcastle when the summer transfer window opens.

José Álvarez, a journalist from El Chiringuito, revealed exclusively that Barcelona are targeting Isak.

“The main objective is Alexander Isak,” Álvarez said (h/t Diario AS). “Right now, he is valued at €75 million, and negotiations would need to take place with Newcastle. Contact has been made with the player, and the feeling is positive.”

It’s not clear whether it’s Barcelona who value at that fee or elsewhere, but it will take a lot more than that sum to land Isak. Recently, Alan Shearer, the former Newcastle star, believes Isak’s value could top £150 million due to his impressive form this season.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reported over the weekend that Newcastle is looking to start talks with Alexander Isak about securing a new contract before the season ends.

While Isak’s current deal runs through 2028, he’s not one of the club’s top earners, and Newcastle knows a new contract is necessary. To make it happen, they’ll likely need to adjust their wage structure, as Isak is expected to demand a salary above £200,000, according to the report.

Moreover, the outlet also claims that Isak is open to signing a new deal, but he ideally wants to see Newcastle in the Champions League first.
