Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard has been left out of Denmark’s squad for their upcoming internationals.

Norgaard has not featured in either of Arsenal’s first two games of the season because of an injury.

And the 31-year-old will now not play for Denmark against either Scotland or Greece.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s game against Leeds on Saturday, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said: “Christian will be out for another week or so.”

Norgaard arrived at the Emirates this summer, joining from Brentford in a £15 million deal. He made four appearances in pre-season but is yet to feature since the season started.

The midfielder’s injury problems are just the tip of the iceberg for Arteta though, who is already without a number of key men.

Kai Havertz has suffered a knee injury and a spell on the sidelines is expected for the forward with surgery possibly required. Germany’s national team director Rudi Voller revealed: “We don’t know exactly how things will unfold in the next few weeks. Whether surgery will be necessary or whether it will be treated conservatively.”

Ben White has also been absent since Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United. The defender was replaced after going down in the second half.

Then, against Leeds, skipper Martin Odegaard was forced off with a shoulder injury. “Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed. We don’t know,” Arteta said of his captain. Despite that the midfielder has been named in Norway’s squad for the upcoming internationals.

Things only worsened in the second half of that match when Bukayo Saka limped off holding his hamstring. However there is hope that the England international could return to action within a month.
