Manchester United’s celebrations after taking the lead against Burnley on Saturday quickly turned sour when Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha was forced off with injury during the Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
United'd gone ahead in the 27 minute thanks to own goal raising hopes of leaving behind recent poor results. But moments later Cunha picked up knock that prevented him from continuing dealing another blow to manager Ruben Amorim’s already troubled attack.
Television cameras showed Amorim burying his head in his hands in frustration as substitute Joshua Zirkzee came on to replace the injured striker.
Despite signing Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko this summer, United've struggled in the final third. Sesko started the game on the bench while the injury to Cunha only adds to growing concerns about the team’s lack of consistency up front.
