An explanation for the absence of Kylian Mbappé from the recent charity event held by new Real Madrid teammate Vinícius Jr. has on Friday been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, and points towards a more than reasonable excuse on Mbappé’s part.

The Frenchman was the recipient of an invitation to the event in question, held for the Instituto Vini Jr, in Vinícius’ home country of Brazil earlier this week.

The likes of Ferland Mendy, Éder Militão and Eduardo Camavinga were in attendance at the gala, showing support for their fellow Blancos star.

Mbappé, on the other hand, was forced to miss out.

Why? The small matter of his presentation as the latest addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad…

As per the aforementioned Mario Cortegana:

‘Mbappé and now-Madrid team-mate Endrick were both due to be officially unveiled at the club’s Santiago Bernabéu home stadium after their respective involvements in the European Championship and the Copa América.’
