Blackburn Rovers will be looking to build on the positive end to the season they had under Valerien Ismael - but it looks like they'll do it without Tyrhys Dolan.

The Frenchman was under mounting pressure after failing to steady the ship following John Eustace’s departure, with the Lancashire outfit originally taking just two points from his first seven league games in charge.

But a resurrection surfaced following their comeback against Sheffield Wednesday, with Rovers going on to win four of their last five matches, although a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United on the final day wasn’t enough to leapfrog back into the top six.

As another summer transfer window rolls around, both incomings and outgoings are expected in an attempt to balance the squad ahead of a new campaign.

One departure that has been lingering is that of Tyrhys Dolan, who has been linked with a switch to Championship rivals Bristol City, while clubs in Greece and Turkey are also monitoring his situation, although one club who have been put off by his alleged €1 million a year wage demands are Samsunspor.

Now officially a free agent after his contract came to an end on June 30, Rovers would get a much bigger fee at a tribunal if Dolan was to move to a domestic club, while the club wouldn’t receive much to work with if he made the jump overseas.

Tyrhys Dolan told to end Blackburn Rovers contract saga ASAP - overseas move is preferred

With this in mind, FLW’s Blackburn Rovers fan pundit has weighed in with his thoughts on the option Blackburn should take.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Blackburn Rovers fan pundit Simon Middlehurst has labelled the ongoing saga as “boring” and wants to see Dolan move to a club abroad, given his past comments about wanting to test himself at the highest levels.

Middlehurst said: “To be honest, I want the Tyrhys Dolan situation sorted out as soon as possible.

“It's getting boring now, it’s gone on and on. He's clearly never been interested in coming back to Blackburn, he's let his contract run out, and he seems to be training by himself at the minute.

“I'd rather him sign for a club abroad. He's always said that he wanted to progress his career and go to the next level and I genuinely think that if he signed for a Championship club, then he’s just basically going back on what he was saying.

“For me, signing abroad would be better regardless of the tribunal or what we're going to get for him. It just needs sorting now as it’s getting a bit boring now.”

Blackburn Rovers will want to avoid the pain of seeing Tyrhys Dolan thrive at another Championship club

It’s evident to see why there’s so much hype about Tyrhys Dolan, given the attacker has just enjoyed his best season as a professional by recording seven goals and six assists.

Dolan’s versatility to play on either flank, matched by his threatening pace and direct style of play, has turned him into one of the first names on the Blackburn teamsheet, and it is undoubtedly a blow for Rovers, who look very likely at this stage to lose their star man.

With Dolan constantly improving and building his output season-by-season, Blackburn would not want to see him benefit a second tier rival, with the likes of Bristol City set to battle with the Lancashire outfit once again towards the top end of the table, even if it were to financially benefit them more.

Blackburn would probably kick themselves if Dolan played a part in hindering their quest to return to the Premier League, albeit the fact he's not signing a new contract is through no real fault of their own, while Dolan has mentioned his desire to play in better divisions.

Even though it would result in receiving a lot less money, Blackburn would probably rather Dolan make his next move an overseas one, ensuring that he can’t hurt their upcoming season on the pitch and allowing him to fulfill his personal ambitions.
