Serie A sides AC Milan and Napoli remain interested in Romelu Lukaku, with both sides working on a potential deal according to reports.

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea in the summer of 2021 from Inter Milan for just shy of £100m, and despite a positive start the move has been a complete nightmare for the Blues.

The Belgian has spent the last two seasons on loan at Inter and Roma, with Chelsea finally hoping to offload the 31-year-old on a permanent basis this summer.

AC Milan and Napoli working on Lukaku

Before Lukaku went to Roma on loan last summer Chelsea inserted a £38m exit clause into his contract, and they are expecting any potential suitors to pay that in full.

Italian outlet Di Marzio have reported that both AC Milan and Napoli remain interested in the Belgium international and they are working on his return to Italy.

The report adds that as things stand the Blues are currently not open to a loan deal, with Lukaku, who still has two years left on his Chelsea deal set to make a decision on his future after the Euros.

AC Milan and Napoli are both working on a deal to bring Lukaku back to Serie A.

There is also interest from the Saudi Pro League, with Lukaku previously saying he would be open to a move to Saudi Arabia.

The Napoli links make the most sense given his relationship with Antonio Conte, who has recently been appointed as their new manager.

When asked about whether Lukaku was his top transfer target the Italian said:

“He’s an excellent player, top player.

“There’s nothing else to say.”

Lukaku is unlikely to be the only striker leaving Stamford Bridge this summer with the Blues also looking to move on Armando Broja, who they value at around £35m and David Datro Fofana.
