Two Chelsea players who shone with good stats – and one who hurt his chances of playing again | OneFootball

We always like to take a post-match look back at some stats after a Chelsea game, although last night’s easy win over Barrow is hard to draw too many conclusions from.

Not only were the opposition pretty weak, looking totally overmatched from front to back. It also wasn’t anything close to our first team. In fact, manager Enzo Maresca changed a full eleven players from the win over West Ham at the weekend.

So it’s fair to say this game won’t likely be a major indicator of the team’s strengths of weaknesses, no matter how good it was.

That doesn’t mean we can’t think about some individuals in the mix however – they can impress on that level, even if we can’t read much into the team stats.

Individuals stand out stats

For example: Cesare Casadei was a surprising inclusion, but he ended up winning 5 aerial duels, the joint most on the team. That is very likely the reason he was in the team over some other options in the middle.

In terms of passing, it was Benoit Badiashile who took the crown. He totalled 119 passes (by far the most on the team) hit the joint most long balls on the team (6) with 4 of them accurate. It’s not going to elbow him above Tosin or Wesley Fofana in the pecking order to play alongside Levi Colwill, but it’s just the sort of showing the Frenchman needed to get his season on track after some dodgy showings.

Kiernan Dewbury-Hall would have to be the disappointment of the game – we looked much better when the dynamic Carney Chukwuemeka came on. KDH’s long night was summed up by his shooting stats – 4 shots, one on target, no goals. No key passes, no long balls and one through ball (which didn’t reach its target).

That was not the game he was looking for as he looks to earn a first team place, let’s face it.
