Spurs have considered the likes of Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey and Noah Okafor at AC Milan

Tottenham remain in the market for a forward before Monday's transfer deadline but have cooled their interest in Southampton's Tyler Dibling.

Spurs have held talks over the 18-year-old winger but were put off by the Saints' demands of an astronomical fee, well in excess of their reported £55million asking price.

Former Southampton head coach Russell Martin joked in December that £21m would buy Dibling's "left foot".

Dibling will have two years remaining on his contract at St Mary’s in the summer, when Spurs could be among a number of clubs to reassess his situation, particularly if rock-bottom Saints are relegated from the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou, the Spurs head coach, wants a new forward in this window, with Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner all currently sidelined through injury.

Spurs agreed a £50m fee with Bayern Munich for Mathys Tel, 19, last week but the France forward is reluctant to leave the German club permanently and turned down the move. Tel remains the subject of loan interest from a number of English clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Spurs have considered Aston Villa's Leon Bailey and Noah Okafor of AC Milan, although neither player is being actively pursued ahead of Monday's 11pm deadline.
