Former Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto looked back on his spell in the Italian capital.
While speaking to Gianlucadimarzio.it, Pinto reflected on the signings he’s most proud of since leaving Roma for Bournemouth.
”Svilar is a very special guy. All the goalkeeper coaches he worked with always told me that he was the best they ever saw,” Pinto said of the keeper he helped bring as a free agent two years ago.
“All the players who played with Mile and all the coaches who coached him repeated the same to me. So what slowed down his exploit? He lacked the ‘click’. Because those who saw him in training immediately realised that that boy was not normal.”
“When I see the saves he does, I get excited. At Benfica I called him ‘my Golden boy’. To whom do the merits of his growth go? It’s all thanks to him, I have nothing to do with it. For me it was obvious that he would become one of the best in the world and it was only a matter of time.”
”Dybala? I can’t forget the greatest of all, Dybala, who I can’t help but say is special. You look at him in training, touch the ball and think: ‘Bingo’.”
“All other things are talk. It’s hard for me to choose one but if I had to do it, in addition to Mile with whom I have a different relationship, I would say Paulo is my best signing.”
